Manchester City hoping to get rid of £150,000-a-week flop next summer

Premier League champions Manchester City are eager to cash in on out-of-favour 28-year-old English midfielder Kalvin Phillips next summer.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Kalvin Phillips does not have a long-term future at Manchester City. The Premier League champions are keen on offloading the out-of-favour 28-year-old midfielder in the 2025 summer transfer window and get his £150,000-a-week wages off their books.

Kalvin Phillips was among the best midfielders in the Premier League when he joined Manchester City from Leeds United in July 2022. The Englishman had been a pivotal figure for Leeds United and helped the West Yorkshire outfit remain in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season. However, he has failed to make his mark thus far for Manchester City.

The 28-year-old has managed only 914 minutes of game time across 31 appearances thus far for Manchester City. In addition, a loan spell with West Ham United in the second half of the 2023/24 season did not work out. However, Phillips hopes to resurrect his stuttering fortunes after joining Ipswich Town on a season-long deal in the summer transfer window.
