‘Clear red card’ – Endrick kicks opponent in the groin

Alaves manager Luis Garcia Plaza claimed Real Madrid’s Endrick should have been sent off in their defeat at Santiago Bernabeu.

The young Brazil star was introduced for the final 20 minutes of Real Madrid’s 3-2 win against Alaves in La Liga on Tuesday night. Endrick, 18, was involved in a clash with defender Santiago Mourino inside the penalty box, where the forward appeared to strike him in the groin with his knee. The referee opted to only give Endrick a yellow card, much to the fury of Alaves head coach Plaza.

Speaking after the match, the Alaves boss said: “It’s a red card. We should have played the last 10 minutes against 10 men. It’s a clear red, nobody can say it wasn’t. If the referee didn’t see it, that’s what the VAR is for. Maybe they got more yellows than they should have, but for for Endrick, it’s a red.”
