Liverpool are back on the market for a new midfielder and could make a move in January.
During the summer, Liverpool’s transfer focus shifted heavily onto Martin Zubimendi at Real Sociedad. Despite signing four new midfielders last year, the Reds were left wanting some extra fire power in their engine room.
Talks with Zubimendi reached advanced stages but eventually collapsed when the Spanish international decided to remain at his boyhood club. Following the failed move, it was revealed that Liverpool would not be pursuing another target, and would instead wait until 2025 to revisit the need for a new midfielder.
It seems that time has now come around. It was initially suggested that Liverpool would have a quiet January but after their lead at the top of the Premier League table drastically decreased, they now find themselves linked with new recruits for the new year.
