Former Inter, Lazio, Sampdoria and Italy star Antonio Candreva has announced his retirement from football at the age of 38.
The attacking midfielder celebrated his 38th birthday last month and had been out of contract since his deal with Salernitana expired in July 2024.
He announced the news with a video message on his social media accounts.
“Dear football, today is one of the most important days of my life. The time has come to say goodbye. Here, at San Siro, the temple of football, where I played my last match.
“My journey with you began here 30 years ago, filled with joy and pain, sacrifice and victory, and for sure, so many emotions.
“I’ve lived my dream, my passion. I don’t see this as a farewell, but just a new starting point. Thank you, football, see you soon.”
