Man United Looking To Sell Expensive Flop This Summer

Manchester United’s long search for stability between the posts appears set for another turn. According to a report by TalkSport, the club are planning to sell Andre Onana this summer, drawing a line under a turbulent chapter that has cost both money and momentum.

Onana’s loan move to Trabzonspor in September followed what was described as a horror show in United’s humiliating EFL Cup defeat at League Two Grimsby. The symbolism was hard to miss. A goalkeeper signed to modernise United’s build up play, to usher in a new era under Erik ten Hag, instead became emblematic of a team short on certainty.

TalkSport report that there is no way back for Onana at Man United following his loan at Trabzonspor. With the Turkish side unlikely to pursue a permanent deal, United have no plans to reintegrate the Cameroonian international into their first team.

United’s hierarchy know they will have to absorb a financial blow. The near £50million fee paid to Inter Milan in summer 2023 now reads as a costly gamble.
