Manchester United have held fresh talks over signing Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, and the Red Devils are now prepared to advance if their £60m asking price drops, according to Ben Jacobs.
Signing an out-and-out striker could be United’s next priority in the summer transfer window after bringing in two versatile forward options so far for Ruben Amorim. Matheus Cunha arrived through the door from Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Bryan Mbeumo also signed on the dotted line after a big-money move from Brentford.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are Amorim’s two main striker options in attack for the Red Devils, but the duo have struggled to find consistent form since they moved to Old Trafford from Serie A. If United want to head back in the right direction after a dismal 2024/2025 campaign, adding a new striker could be necessary.
According to journalist Jacobs, reporting on X, United have now held fresh talks over signing Aston Villa striker Watkins. His £60m valuation is currently deemed as too high for the Manchester club, but United are prepared to advance if his asking price drops in the coming weeks.
