Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Brazilian forward João Pedro this afternoon, making him the latest player to swap Brighton for the Blues. The 22-year-old attacker has signed a long-term deal until 2033 and has already joined the squad in the United States for pre-season preparations ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup clash against Palmeiras.

“Everyone knows this is a big club with a rich history. They’ve had brilliant players in the past, and they still do. So I’m excited to be part of this team, and you know, when you play for Chelsea, there’s only one thing on your mind – winning,” said João Pedro.

The £60 million signing becomes the fourth player in the past three years to make the move from Brighton to Stamford Bridge, following Marc Cucurella (£63m), Robert Sánchez (£25m), and Moisés Caicedo (£115m).

When factoring in the approximately £22 million Chelsea paid for manager Graham Potter and his backroom staff, the Seagulls have earned close to £300 million from the Blues over the past three years.
