As River Plate gear up for the Copa Libertadores, attention is also turning to the club’s presidential elections set for December. Among the potential candidates, former striker David Trezeguet has emerged as a possible opposition figure.
According to TNT Sports’ Maximiliano Grillo, Trezeguet is seriously evaluating a run and is already working on assembling a team. Having gained experience in Juventus’ management, he could now take the next step in his leadership career by aiming for River’s presidency.
Meanwhile, Penarol president Ignacio Ruglio has made a bold claim regarding River’s future leadership. In an interview, he suggested that the club’s current administration has already decided on its candidate, stating that Secretary General Stefano Di Carlo is set to succeed Jorge Brito.
At just 29 years old, Di Carlo could make history as one of the youngest presidents in River Plate’s history. While no official confirmation has been made, the coming months will be crucial in shaping the club’s political landscape.
